M. Chapoutier is one of the oldest names in the Rhone valley. The estate was founded in 1808 by the Calvet family, and was sold to the Chapoutier family in 1855. Today, Michel Chapoutier is considered as one of the most influential wine growers in the Northern Rhône with the largest vineyard holdings in the Hermitage hill.
M. Chapoutier's white wines from Hermitage and Saint-Joseph are among the best of the best. His Hermitage white is consistently superb, aging as well as Chave's and is vastly supeior to that made by Jaboulet.
